The SPD Pro Manufacturing Execution System (MES) manages the entire build process in sequence or batch from start to finish for even the most complex assemblies. MES displays step-by-step directions for operators at each workstation, error proofs each step, interfaces with assembly line machinery as needed, and provides complete “cradle to grave” traceability.

MES is capable of the following modes of operation:
- Build in Batch – This modes allows the supplier to build variable size batches defined by the user.
- Build to Replenish – This mode collects broadcast data into batches of similar parts for future sequencing and shipping.
- Build in Sequence – This mode drives data received in a broadcast or ILVS file directly into production for true build-in-sequence manufacturing.
- Build to Order – This mode, often referred to as Feature Based Order Management, allows true build-in-sequence operations in environments where no finished assembly item number exits. Manufacturing is totally customized with no need for Bills of Materials.
- Build to Stock – This mode allows the supplier to build inventory and safety stock.
MES FEATURES
SPD Pro’s Manufacturing Execution System module is designed for companies requiring Build-in-Sequence or Build-in-Batch capability. MES includes the following features:
Manufacturing Method Logic – Supports multiple manufacturing methodologies and activates them on demand; allows the user to define Routing Steps and Bills of Materials.
Unlimited Manufacturing Profiles – Allows for model changes to the assembly line prior to implementation.
Integrated I/O Capability – Directly drives I/O to control PLC activity, Pick to Light activity, and torque controller information.
Complete Part Tracking and Traceability – Controls and records each step of the manufacturing process to provide complete “cradle to grave” traceability.
Queue Sharing Logic – Allows production to be assigned dynamically to more than one assembly line.
Process Control and Error Proofing – Organizes the entire manufacturing process into individual steps so it becomes virtually impossible for an operator to bypass a procedure.
Operator Tracking – Allows managers to require operators to log in/log out for traceability purposes and to ensure that only trained personnel work in critical operations.
Production Scheduling – Ability to smooth or level production schedule so that product complexity is even over time while still shipping sequentially.
Seamless AS/RS interface – Sends data directly to an AS/RS system from the end of a production line.
Manufacturer’s Build Number Logic – Assigns a unique tracking number to every module built.
Robotic Label Application – Automatically applies labels with no operator interaction required.
Total Machine Control – SPD Pro interfaces with the following machines:
- Conveyor equipment
- Automated storage and retrieval systems
- Dock stripping equipment
- Overhead gantry cranes for automated retrieval
- Third party vision identification systems
